TSA Security Line Wait Times

by DL Byron on December 2, 2005

TSA is providing [security checkpoint wait time](http://waittime.tsa.dhs.gov/index.html) information to assist travelers in planning for their next flight. The times are based on historical data and, of course, you’ll need to consider your airports parking and check in. For example, at Seatac the wait times are absolutely random and I’ve defaulted to showing up at least 2 hours ahead. TSA has also published

* [Updated List of Prohibited items](http://www.tsa.gov/public/display?theme=177)
* [Related travel sites](http://www.tsa.gov/public/display?theme=182)
* [And how to best get through the security line](http://www.tsa.gov/public/display?theme=176)

On getting through the line, I’ve seen travellers joke about the line, have attitude, and get quickly sent to the full search line. As annoying as TSA is, there in charge, it’s their world when you hit that line and if you push it, they’ll take you out. My wife has a metal shoulder and will get searched each time, so we make sure we tell them we’re together, she’ll trigger it, and ask where to stand: “yes sir, no sir.”
