Computer Malfunction Delays United Flights By 2 hours
A computer outage this morning lasting from 9AM to 11AM, EST, caused nationwide delays for United Flights lasting up to two hours. Some planes were forced to sit on the tarmac full of passengers for an hour and half while the issue was sorted out. Most of the delays were only about 20 to 30 minutes, and the United delays did not affect other airlines flight times. United is still trying to figure out what caused the computer outage, and why there were no back-up systems in place.

2 hours? are you kidding me?
If the delays were only 2 hours, then it wouldnt have been so bad. Being a business traveler you learn to schedule at least that amount of time between connections especially if flying through o’hare, philly, or laguardia. This “2 hour” delay caused me to reroute to some airport in the middle of someones corn field and turned my 1 stop trip into a 3 stop. I still reached my destination 3 hours ahead of my original flight & it was 6.5 hours behind schedule. Press releases downplay everything, but you cant know the sheer aggravation unless you lived it yourself.
That’s egregious.
